This conversation and listening session explores community building and collaborative sound practices. Moderated by Golnoosh Heshmati, the session brings together Cristina Cochior (Varia), pantea (Khamoosh), and Yamen Mekdad (Syrian Cassette Archives) to share approaches to gathering, digital infrastructures, and listening as a form of action and care.

Each speaker draws from community-based projects to introduce new ways of hearing the silenced or overlooked. The session concludes with a collective listening guided by Mekdad, centred on Syria’s rich cassette archive.

This session is part of Rewire‘s context programme that runs from 3 to 6 April across several locations in The Hague, including Page Not Found. It offers space for collective reflection and brings the practices of participating artists into conversation. In a time of political unrest and ecological crisis, the programme asks how we can listen—with one another, to one another, and to our surroundings—through conversations, sound walks, workshops, and listening sessions. Rewire is an annual international festival for adventurous music.

Een gesprek en luistersessie over community building en gezamenlijke luisterpraktijken. Onder leiding van Golnoosh Heshmati delen Cristina Cochior (Varia), pantea (Khamoosh) en Yamen Mekdad (Syrian Cassette Archives) hun werkwijzen rond digitale infrastructuren, kennisdeling en luisteren als sociale actie en zorg.

Vanuit hun betrokkenheid bij verschillende collectieven introduceren de sprekers nieuwe manieren om het ongehoorde te beluisteren. De sessie sluit af met een collectieve luistersessie begeleid door Mekdad, met archiefmateriaal uit Syrië’s cassettecultuur.

Deze sessie maakt deel uit van het contextprogramma van Rewire, dat plaatsvindt van 3 t/m 6 april op verschillende locaties in Den Haag, waaronder Page Not Found. Het programma biedt ruimte voor collectieve reflectie en brengt de praktijken van deelnemende kunstenaars met elkaar in gesprek. In een tijd van politieke onrust en ecologische crisis stelt het programma de vraag hoe we kunnen luisteren—met elkaar, naar elkaar en naar onze omgeving—via gesprekken, sound walks, workshops en luistersessies. Rewire is een jaarlijks internationaal festival voor avontuurlijke muziek.
