As the year draws to a close, so does this season’s edition of Page of Possibilities, our free and accessible workshops for children. The final workshop will take place on 20 December, followed by a weekend dedicated to building a mini exhibition with the children at Page Not Found. This exhibition, a testament to their creativity and collaboration, will be displayed in our space, and we warmly invite you to come and explore it.

Page of Possibilities offers children the chance to explore the magical world of artists’ books through playful, hands-on exploration. Inspired by child-led learning, these sessions encourage young participants to create their own publications while fostering imagination and collaboration.

This year, Page Not Found partnered with De Vrolijkheid Foundation and artists Fatemeh Heidari, Zahar Bondar, and Ola Vasiljeva (Page Not Found’s Creative Director) to host 14 workshops for children living in the Asylum Seeker Centre in Katwijk (AZC Katwijk). Together, we worked on an extraordinary giant book, developed through performative and collaborative sessions that captured the children’s unique stories and perspectives.

De Vrolijkheid Foundation has been supporting creative workshops in asylum seekers’ centres throughout the Netherlands for over 20 years, and we are honoured to contribute to their inspiring mission of empowering young voices through art and creativity.

Het jaar loopt ten einde en dat geldt ook voor de editie van Page of Possibilities, onze gratis en toegankelijke workshops voor kinderen. De laatste workshop vindt plaats op 20 december, gevolgd door een weekend gewijd aan het bouwen van een mini-tentoonstelling met de kinderen. Deze tentoonstelling, een bewijs van hun creativiteit en samenwerking, zal worden tentoongesteld in onze ruimte en we nodigen je van harte uit om deze te komen ontdekken.

Page of Possibilities biedt kinderen de kans om de magische wereld van kunstenaarsboeken op een speelse manier te verkennen. Deze sessies zijn geïnspireerd op leren door kinderen en moedigen jonge deelnemers aan om hun eigen publicaties te maken, terwijl fantasie en samenwerking worden gestimuleerd.

Dit jaar werkte Page Not Found samen met Stichting De Vrolijkheid en kunstenaars Fatemeh Heidari, Zahar Bondar en Ola Vasiljeva (Page Not Found’s Creative Director) om 14 workshops te organiseren voor kinderen die in het Asielzoekerscentrum in Katwijk (AZC Katwijk) wonen. Samen werkten we aan een gigantisch boek, ontwikkeld door middel van performatieve en collaboratieve sessies die de unieke verhalen en perspectieven van de kinderen vastlegden.

Stichting De Vrolijkheid ondersteunt al meer dan 20 jaar creatieve workshops in asielzoekerscentra in heel Nederland en we zijn blij dat we kunnen bijdragen aan hun inspirerende missie om jonge stemmen te versterken door middel van kunst en creativiteit.

Join us for a conversation around the book Republishing: Umoja Zwarte Vrouwenkrant, a book that reintroduces the groundbreaking but largely unacknowledged grassroots magazine created by the group Stichting ‘Zwarte Vrouwen & Racisme’ from Arnhem (1985–1986). This republication enriches the underexposed legacies of Black feminism in the Netherlands, offering a powerful archive of voices, experiences, and solidarity. 

The book includes the complete set of Umoja magazines, contextualised in an essay by Tamara Hartman, and archival findings from Ans Sarianamual’s personal archive, edited by Mirelle van Tulder, who also designed the book. Umoja was radical in its intersectional approach, building transnational connections and widely introducing “black” as a political term to unite women who were permanently labeled “the Other” because of racism. 

The event hosts a discussion between Ans Sarianamual, Mirelle van Tulder, and Tabea Nixdorff, with a special remote contribution by Tamara Hartman. 

The book is part of the publication series Archival Textures, which seeks to uncover knowledges continuously obscured by normative perspectives on bodies, desires, cohabitation, and expression. Through critical engagement with the concept of the “archive,” Archival Textures challenges institutional collections that often classify and constrain knowledge within rigid intellectual frameworks.

Bezoek ons voor een gesprek rond het boek Republishing: Umoja Zwarte Vrouwenkrant, een boek dat het baanbrekende maar grotendeels miskende grassroots magazine van de groep Stichting ‘Zwarte Vrouwen & Racisme’ uit Arnhem (1985-1986) herintroduceert. Deze heruitgave verrijkt de onderbelichte erfenis van het zwarte feminisme in Nederland en biedt een krachtig archief van stemmen, ervaringen en solidariteit.

Het boek bevat de complete reeks Umoja-magazines, gecontextualiseerd in een essay van Tamara Hartman, en archiefvondsten uit het persoonlijke archief van Ans Sarianamual, geredigeerd door Mirelle van Tulder, die ook het boek ontwierp. Umoja was radicaal in haar intersectionele aanpak, het opbouwen van transnationale connecties en het op grote schaal introduceren van “zwart” als politieke term om vrouwen te verenigen die vanwege racisme permanent als “de Ander” werden bestempeld.

Tijdens het evenement vindt een discussie plaats tussen Ans Sarianamual, Mirelle van Tulder en Tabea Nixdorff, met een speciale bijdrage op afstand van Tamara Hartman.

Het boek maakt deel uit van de publicatiereeks Archival Textures, die probeert kennis bloot te leggen die voortdurend wordt verdoezeld door normatieve perspectieven op lichamen, verlangens, samenleven en expressie. Door kritisch om te gaan met het concept van het “archief”, daagt Archival Textures institutionele collecties uit die kennis vaak classificeren en beperken binnen rigide intellectuele kaders.

Join us for the book launch of Pointing At Things Is The New Writing by Jeannette Slütter. This event marks the release of the third and final chapter of the series, as well as a celebration of the project in its entirety. 

Pointing At Things Is The New Writing features the works of artist Jeannette Slütter and includes a transcription of a conversation with fellow artist Francesca Hawker. The series delves into the concept of oeuvre, inviting the reader to participate in a dialogue about what it means, how it’s defined, and how it evolves over time.  

The first part introduced this conversation. In the second part, new voices—Anouk van Klaveren, Zoë Dankert, Cara Farnan, Zoë Tim Hollander, and Dewi Bekker—joined the discussion, adding their own questions, remarks, and anecdotes to the ongoing exploration of what defines an artistic oeuvre. Now it is time for the last chapter of the conversation together with a monologue by Alicja Melzacka.  

During the launch, Jeannette Slütter will lead a performative guided tour, offering an in-depth exploration of the project. The tour will take you through the creative process, design elements, publishing decisions, and the conversations and monologues that shaped the series—culminating in a meta-perspective on the concept of oeuvre.

Kom naar de boekpresentatie van Pointing At Things Is The New Writing van Jeannette Slütter. Dit evenement markeert de release van het derde en laatste hoofdstuk van de serie, evenals een viering van het project in zijn geheel.

Pointing At Things Is The New Writing toont het werk van kunstenaar Jeannette Slütter en bevat een transcriptie van een gesprek met collega-kunstenaar Francesca Hawker. De serie gaat in op het begrip oeuvre en nodigt de lezer uit om deel te nemen aan een dialoog over wat het betekent, hoe het gedefinieerd wordt en hoe het zich ontwikkelt in de loop van de tijd.

Our fifth and final Open Letter of the year is “Last Try” by Shouyi He. Last Try is an intimate and powerful letter in which Shouyi reflects on his experiences as a Chinese artist navigating the Dutch and European art scenes. Drawing on the metaphor of wind, he shares the challenges of feeling objectified and marginalised in a white-dominant society. The letter addresses the pressures of conforming, the exhaustion of invisibility, and the urgent need for a more inclusive and empathetic recognition of artistic voices. Presented through the storefront of Page Not Found, Last Try invites dialogue and reflection on the barriers faced by minority artists, emphasising the importance of acknowledging individuality and fostering authentic expression in the art world.

Shouyi He (1996, CN) is a moving-image artist and researcher based in The Hague since 2021. His work explores the complexities of interpersonal relationships within social structures, examining themes such as family power dynamics, autonomy in kinship, gender roles in households, and identity across cultural contexts. By blending personal narratives with multidimensional visual languages, Shouyi interrogates the norms of our everyday relationships, deconstructing generalised narratives to spark broader social dialogue. 

Open Letters is an urban intervention project launched by Page Not Found in March 2021. It is designed as an open call for artists and writers in The Hague to occupy our storefront with messages of urgency and vulnerability. Open Letters was inspired by the short essay “The Year I Stopped Making Art. Why the art world should assist artists beyond representation; in solidarity,” written by the artist Paul Maheke in April 2020 as a reflection and call for solidarity in response to the current global situation and art world.

Onze vijfde en laatste Open Letter van het jaar is “Last Try” van Shouyi He. Last Try is een intieme en krachtige brief waarin Shouyi reflecteert op zijn ervaringen als Chinese kunstenaar in de Nederlandse en Europese kunstwereld. Gebruikmakend van de metafoor van de wind, deelt hij de uitdagingen van het zich geobjectiveerd en gemarginaliseerd voelen in een overwegend witte samenleving. De brief gaat in op de druk van conformisme, de uitputting van onzichtbaarheid en de dringende behoefte aan een meer inclusieve en empathische erkenning van artistieke stemmen. Last Try nodigt uit tot dialoog en reflectie over de barrières waar kunstenaars uit minderheidsgroepen mee te maken hebben en benadrukt het belang van erkenning van individualiteit en het stimuleren van authentieke expressie in de kunstwereld.

Shouyi He (1996, CN) is een bewegend beeld kunstenaar en onderzoeker gevestigd in Den Haag sinds 2021. Zijn werk verkent de complexiteit van interpersoonlijke relaties binnen sociale structuren, waarbij hij thema’s onderzoekt als familiale machtsdynamiek, autonomie in verwantschap, genderrollen in huishoudens en identiteit in verschillende culturele contexten. Door persoonlijke verhalen te vermengen met multidimensionale visuele talen, bevraagt Shouyi de normen van onze alledaagse relaties en deconstrueert hij algemene verhalen om een bredere sociale dialoog op gang te brengen.

Open Letters is een stedelijk interventieproject dat in maart 2021 werd gelanceerd door Page Not Found. Join us this afternoon at Page Not Found for the closing event of Open Letter “Typographic Resistance” by Balázs Milánik. The finissage will include a brief yet inspiring contribution from Hossam Alfarra, a Palestinian activist from Gaza.

Hossam is the driving force behind Palestine Café Utrecht, a community space dedicated to exploring Palestinian culture through art, events, discussions, and more. In partnership with the Palestinian History Tapestry, he is also working to bring the rich history of Palestine to Dutch spaces through traditional “Tatreez” embroidery.

Each year we host our Page of Possibilities workshops for children— free and accessible creative sessions inspired by child-lead learning, which introduce children to the world of artistic publications. Young participants are invited to discover the magical world of artists’ books and to learn how to make their own publications. Sessions are led by artists with a broad experience in educative projects, combining children’s play with art and DIY graphic techniques to stimulate creative exchange and collaboration.

This year Page Not Found unites forces with De Vrolijkheid foundation and artists Fatemeh Heidari, Zahar Bondar and Ola Vasiljeva (Page Not Found’s Creative Director) to provide workshops for children living in the Asylum Seeker Centre in Katwijk (AZC Katwijk). This fall/winter we will provide 14 workshops, working on creating a giant book, through a series of performative sessions. De Vrolijkheid Foundation organises creative workshops and activities in asylum seekers’ centres throughout The Netherlands. They have been doing this with and for the young people living in these centres for more than 20 years.

Elk jaar organiseren we onze Page of Possibilities workshops voor kinderen – gratis en toegankelijke creatieve sessies geïnspireerd door kindgestuurd leren, die kinderen laten kennismaken met de wereld van artistieke publicaties. De sessies worden geleid door kunstenaars met ruime ervaring in educatieve projecten, waarbij kinderspel wordt gecombineerd met kunst en doe-het-zelf grafische technieken om creatieve uitwisseling en samenwerking te stimuleren.

Dit jaar bundelt Page Not Found de krachten met stichting De Vrolijkheid en kunstenaars Fatemeh Heidari en Zahar Bondar en Ola Vasiljeva (Page Not Found’s Creative Director) om workshops te geven aan kinderen die in het Asielzoekerscentrum in Katwijk (AZC Katwijk) wonen. Deze herfst/winter zullen we 14 workshops geven, waarbij we werken aan het maken van een reuzenboek, door middel van een serie performatieve sessies. Stichting De Vrolijkheid organiseert creatieve workshops en activiteiten in asielzoekerscentra door heel Nederland. Dit doen ze al meer dan 20 jaar met en voor de jongeren die in deze centra wonen.

Following our Offprint London debut in May we were excited to head back to Offprint Paris for the second time, bringing our own publishing projects alongside those of our talented collaborators. We brought publications that bring the world of artistic publishing in The Hague and the Netherlands into focus. Including our publication “Women Looking at Women Looking at Women” by Annemarie Wadlow (1993) which received the 2022 Best Dutch Design Book award (De Best Verzorgde Boeken 2022), and was shortlisted for the Most Beautiful Book in the World award from Stiftung Buchkunst. With this accolade, the publication was selected to be exhibited at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. The fair welcomed over 10,000 visitors, and we were thrilled to see so many people stopping by to discover our activities. It was also a pleasure to reconnect with fellow publishers from France and elsewhere.

Na ons debuut in Offprint Londen in mei waren we blij om voor de tweede keer naar Offprint Parijs te gaan, met onze eigen uitgeefprojecten naast die van onze getalenteerde partners. We brachten publicaties mee die de wereld van het artistieke uitgeven in Den Haag en Nederland in beeld brengen. Waaronder onze publicatie “Women Looking at Women Looking at Women” van Annemarie Wadlow (1993), die werd bekroond met de prijs voor De Best Verzorgde Boeken 2022 en op de shortlist stond voor de prijs voor het Mooiste Boek ter Wereld van Stiftung Buchkunst. Met deze onderscheiding werd de publicatie geselecteerd om tentoongesteld te worden in het Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. De beurs verwelkomde meer dan 10.000 bezoekers en we vonden het geweldig om te zien dat zoveel mensen langskwamen om onze activiteiten te ontdekken. Het was ook een genoegen om weer in contact te komen met collega-uitgevers uit Frankrijk en elders.

At the occasion of Hoogtij #79, Page Not Found presents a screening of Onyeka Igwe’s film “a so-called archive” (2020). The film examines two decaying sites: the neglected former Nigerian Film Unit building in Lagos and the now-closed British Empire and Commonwealth Museum in Bristol. Both locations reflect the uncomfortable legacy of colonialism, as their deteriorating collections and the controversy surrounding the Bristol museum’s closure illustrate society’s struggle to confront its colonial past.

The film lasts 20 minutes and runs continuously throughout the evening.

Onyeka Igwe is a London born, and based, moving image artist and researcher. Her work is aimed at the question: how do we live together? Not to provide a rigid answer as such, but to pull apart the nuances of mutuality, co-existence and multiplicity. Onyeka’s practice figures sensorial, spatial and counter-hegemonic ways of knowing as central to that task. For her, the body, archives and narratives both oral and textual act as a mode of enquiry that makes possible the exposition of overlooked histories. Onyeka will have a solo exhibition at Tate Britain in September 2025. Her work is distributed by LUX and argos, represented by Arcadia Missa.

This film screening is part of Mal d’Archive, Page Not Found’s new public programme, which explores the space between artistic, archival and publishing practices. This programme stretches over several years and includes events, exhibitions, workshops and residencies.

Ter gelegenheid van Hoogtij #79 presenteert Page Not Found een vertoning van Onyeka Igwe’s film “a so-called archive” (2020). De film onderzoekt twee vervallen locaties: het verwaarloosde voormalige Nigeriaanse Film Unit gebouw in Lagos en het nu gesloten British Empire and Commonwealth Museum in Bristol. Beide locaties weerspiegelen de ongemakkelijke erfenis van het kolonialisme. De aftakelende collecties en de controverse rond de sluiting van het museum in Bristol illustreren de worsteling van de samenleving om haar koloniale verleden onder ogen te zien.

De film duurt 20 minuten en draait de hele avond door.

Onyeka Igwe is een in Londen geboren en wonende kunstenaar en onderzoeker op het gebied van bewegend beeld. Haar werk richt zich op de vraag: hoe leven we samen? Niet om een rigide antwoord als zodanig te geven, maar om de nuances van wederkerigheid, co-existentie en multipliciteit uit elkaar te trekken. In Onyeka’s werk staan zintuiglijke, ruimtelijke en tegen-hegemonische manieren van weten centraal. Voor haar fungeren het lichaam, archieven en zowel mondelinge als tekstuele verhalen als een onderzoeksmethode die het mogelijk maakt om over het hoofd geziene geschiedenissen bloot te leggen. Onyeka zal in september 2025 een solotentoonstelling hebben in Tate Britain. Haar werk wordt gedistribueerd door LUX en argos, vertegenwoordigd door Arcadia Missa.

Deze filmvertoning maakt deel uit van Mal d’Archive, het nieuwe openbare programma van Page Not Found, dat de ruimte tussen artistieke, archief- en publicatiepraktijken verkent. Dit programma strekt zich uit over meerdere jaren en omvat evenementen, tentoonstellingen, workshops en residenties.

Last month’s Perso-Arabic Typographic Night was wonderfully packed. Join us for another unique live session with three emerging designers, who will play with and transform your text of choice. Co-curated with Trang Hà and Paulina Trzeciak, this session will host:

Catherine Hu is a multidisciplinary artist who transforms everyday materials into engaging sculptural forms that challenge traditional notions of print and design. Hu’s projects often explore the tactile and visual qualities of text, creating installations that invite viewers to reconsider the role of books in contemporary culture.

Correspondence, run by Lukas Engelhardt and Justus Gelberg, is a graphic design studio that transforms ideas, emails, and briefings into formats like pdf, jpeg, html, and mp4. Amsterdam-based Lukas explores the aesthetics of autonomy and is part of Spookstad, a publishing collective that advocates for housing rights and direct action. Meanwhile, Berlin-based Justus finds inspiration in everyday scenes, architecture, and analog and digital archives—often embracing the unconventional and dilettantish.

Koos Breen stretches disciplinary frontiers, shifting fluidly between art direction, design, and art. Working with clients from royals to rappers, he explores material possibilities through collaboration, creating everything from publications to installations and continually evolving his practice with each project.

De Perso-Arabische Typografische Nacht van vorige maand zat bomvol. Kom naar opnieuw een unieke live sessie met drie opkomende ontwerpers, die zullen spelen met jouw gekozen tekst en deze compleet zullen transformeren. Deze sessie, gecureerd in samenwerking met Trang Hà en Paulina Trzeciak, zal bestaan uit:

Catherine Hu is een multidisciplinaire kunstenaar die alledaagse materialen transformeert in boeiende sculpturale vormen die traditionele opvattingen over drukwerk en design uitdagen. Hu’s projecten onderzoeken vaak de tactiele en visuele kwaliteiten van tekst en creëren installaties die de kijker uitnodigen om de rol van boeken in de hedendaagse cultuur te heroverwegen.

Koos Breen verlegt disciplinaire grenzen en beweegt zich soepel tussen art direction, design en kunst. Hij werkt met klanten van royals tot rappers en verkent de materiële mogelijkheden door middel van samenwerking, waarbij hij van alles creëert, van publicaties tot installaties, en met elk project zijn praktijk steeds verder ontwikkelt.

Join us as we mark the grand finale of Lara Dautun‘s residency, “The Feminist Amateur Library,” at Page Not Found. She will present the events, collaborations, and projects from her inspired journey: a storytelling and collage workshop, talks on feminist and queer design practices, a tool for visualising feminist and lesbian publishing knowledge, and a new typeface honouring anonymous women typographers.

Quantum Queerness — A Conversation with Paul Soulellis

For this special evening, Lara invites Paul Soulellis, flying in from the US to join her in a conversation around his research on queer typography, kinship, and archival work. As the founder of Queer.Archive.Work, Paul brings decades of experience in queer publishing and network culture, and this will be a rare chance to hear his insights in an intimate setting.

Based in Providence, Rhode Island, Paul Soulellis is an artist and educator focused on queer methodologies, network culture, and archival justice. As the founder of Queer.Archive.Work, he supports artists with studio space and resources for queer publishing.

Lara Dautun, a recent KABK graphic design graduate, excels in bricolage, merging texts, images, code, and ideas to explore alternative design and publishing practices that drive emancipatory change, with a recent focus on feminist and lesbian publishing.

Lara’s residency, made possible by the Makersregeling from the Gemeente Den Haag, has brought new light to feminist publishing, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Kom naar Page Not Found voor de grote finale van Lara Dautuns residentie “The Feminist Amateur Library”. Ze presenteert de evenementen, samenwerkingen en projecten van haar geïnspireerde reis: een workshop verhalen vertellen en collages maken, lezingen over feministische en queer ontwerppraktijken, een tool voor het visualiseren van feministische en lesbische uitgeefkennis en een nieuw lettertype ter ere van anonieme vrouwelijke typografen.

Voor deze speciale avond nodigt Lara Paul Soulellis uit, die vanuit de VS overkomt om samen met haar een gesprek te voeren over zijn onderzoek naar queer typografie, verwantschap en archiefwerk. Als oprichter van Queer.Archive.Work brengt Paul tientallen jaren ervaring in queer publishing en netwerkcultuur met zich mee, en dit zal een zeldzame kans zijn om zijn inzichten in een intieme setting te horen.
